The Council of the Institute consists of four members, elected by the general assembly. The Council is responsible for the governance and continuity of the Institute. Its composition must reflect a balance between linguistic groups: a maximum of two members may belong to the same linguistic group. Additionally, the Council must respect the rules on gender representation.
The Council is led by a President and a Vice-President, who must come from different linguistic groups. The roles of Secretary and Treasurer are also distributed among the members of the Council.
The responsibilities of the Council include daily management, representing the Institute, maintaining the members’ list, issuing opinions, as well as handling administration and preparing the annual report.
The mandate of a Council member lasts four years and is renewable once. Candidates must meet the legal requirements on the election date: they must be members of the Institute and must not hold any other position within the Institute.
